Forget-Me-Not
Please Remember Me
The United Kingdom All-Party Parliamentary Group on North Korea (APPG
NK) stands in solidarity with the Government of the Republic of Korea in
remembering the South Korean abductees, detainees, and prisoners of war in
North Korean gulags.
The individuals we commemorate today include:
Kim Jung-wook, born 20 January, 1964
Kim Kook-kie, born 23 July, 1954
Choi Chun-gil, born 19 September, 1959
On 26 March, 2024, the President of the Republic of Korea announced the
remembrance of current South Korean missionary abductees detained in
North Korean gulags. To honour this remembrance, a symbolic badge has
been designed featuring three “Forget-Me-Not” flowers, bearing the message
“Please-Remember-Me.” This symbolises that we have not forgotten them and
are actively working to reunite them with their families.
The All-Party Parliamentary Group on North Korea had had a longstanding
commitment to advocating for the oppressed and persecuted 26 million people of North Korea and promoting freedom values. In recognition of this
commitment, we respectfully wear the ‘Forget-Me-Not’ badge as a symbol of
solidarity with the Government of the Republic of Korea in this regard.
We urge North Korean authorities to immediately release the South Korean
detainees so they can be reunited with their beloved family members.
In solidarity,
The United Kingdom All-Party Parliamentary Group on North Korea
