The U.S. House of Representatives voted 365 to 65 in favor of establishing a Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The new committee will be chaired by Representative Mike Gallagherand will be tackling issues including ending dependencies on China in supply chains, curtailing theft of U.S. intellectual property, and highlighting Beijing’s authoritarian state.
Speaker Kevin McCarthy said:
“We want to stop trillions of American dollars from financing communist genocide and military modernization, the committee will work to prevent it including by investigating how ESG (environmental, social, and governance) benefits the CCP,”
