Mark King was joined by Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher at the House of Lords yesterday to tell the story of his campaign to provide a a defibrillator for every single school in the UK. Mark’s extraordinary campaign began when his beloved son, Oliver, tragically lost his life, aged 12, in March 2011. Oliver was a pupil at king david High School in Liverpool – which I have visited many times during my years as MP for Liverpool Mossley Hill and Edge Hill.
To date, this remarkable man has personally delivered more than 5,900 defibrillators to schools across the UK. Mark says: “We are absolutely determined to make sure no other family suffers a similar loss to that of our Oliver.” It was a pleasure to join Mark and his team along with Lord (Stuart) Polak to promote the Oliver King Foundation. The charity deserves widespread support and to achieve its objective.
