Dear David
Nearly three years ago I heard you speak at Celebrate about the persecution of Christians which until then I had not fully registered was ongoing rather than fixed in history. As a result I applied to work as a diocesan representative for Aid to the Church in Need which I have now,been doing for two and a half years. I am speaking at a school on Thursday to share stories as you did and to gather the young people in prayer for the persecuted church. In planning my talk, I found myself recalling your witness. I love this work. It’s a huge privilege to me and I wanted to let you know your part in underlining the need for encouraging solidarity with the persecuted church.

Dear Lord Alton,

You appear to be one of the few people taking an interest in the famine in North Korea. Why is it that famine in North Korea is less newsworthy than elsewhere ? It is particularly tragic as the witnesses to atrocities committed during the Korean War and their children / grandchildren are now also victims of famine. This situation has all the appearances of pure evil – surely there is a christian responsibility to act in a situation such as this ? How do we proceed ?
